This is the biggest news yet in my professional art career!  I have been chosen by the Colorado State Capitol Building Advisory Committee to paint the portrait of President Biden for the Gallery of Presidents.

When I first walked into the space, I felt an enormous weight of importance.  Oh my god, this is a big deal!  I was looking around and noticing the unique impact of the gallery.  It is in a round room positioned right under the gilded dome of the Capitol.  Each portrait has been painted the same size in a classical style of portraiture with the same gold frame.  In this beautiful rotunda, there is a seamless continuity.  It emphasizes the history of the United States of America rather than highlighting individual presidents.  This feels timely.

I keep cracking up every time someone asks me if President Biden is going to pose for me! I feel like he is a little busy at the moment, so I will be working from a selection of photos with a goal of having this portrait unveiled in the Capitol in 2023.  However, I would certainly welcome the President and Dr. Jill Biden to pop by my studio on Air Force One for a cup of coffee and to see history in the making.
